Bi-plane on the Meadows, Edinburgh (Rousse)

MW told me that she had a vehicle that would get across Edinburgh at top speed: a bi-plane. I jumped aboard for a terrifying low-level flight between the cherry trees on Jawbone Walk. On landing at the foot of Middle … Continue reading

Stirling to Edinburgh train services slashed (Rousse)

I met ECM at Waverley station. From there we caught the train to a destination that ECM had been desperate to visit for decades. Unfortunately Stirling was a great disappointment, so after a quick look at the dowdy main street, … Continue reading

Curry versus keynote (Rousse)

There was barely half an hour before the opening keynote speech and I still hadn’t finished preparing the chicken curry that I had promised for dinner for day 2 of the conference. As soon as the sessions started, I would … Continue reading

Bitch confronts idiot (Rousse)

The renovations of the main building on the Corstorphine campus of Queen Margaret College rendered it almost unrecognisable. Gone, for example, was the old refectory, replaced with small takeaway outlets scattered around the campus. I wondered what had become of … Continue reading

A new home in Howe Street, Edinburgh (Rousse)

We bought 55b Howe Street, Edinburgh. It was a top floor flat offering amazing views of the breakers and puffins on the beach (far better than North Berwick), and a route so short to Glenogle Baths that many of the … Continue reading

Downward mobiity (Rousse)

CA was going to kill me. We sold our Edinburgh flat (complete with made-over garden) to buy 32 Abbeydale Road, Northfield, Birmingham. The West Midlands looked very scruffy when compared with Georgian Edinburgh.
