A dance and a devil in the dark (Rousse)
Although we shared the same living space, our marriage was over, and TPR couldn’t care less if I went home with a strange man after the dance. My ‘man’ wasn’t that strange, although it had to be said that his … Continue reading

Westminster dance and romance (Rousse)
Where was Belle? She would be able to tell me more about this Westminster dance club and its amazing ballroom. Taking into account the clientele, I couldn’t decide whether this was the coolest disco ever, or a marriage market for … Continue reading

Dangerous dancing at the Roxy Music disco (Rousse)
A striking looking woman with dark hair picked me from the crowd of party-goers, grabbed me by the hands, and pulled me onto the dance floor. Across the room I could see my DJ husband cast me a worried glance … Continue reading

Paternoster panic and a dreary dance (Rousse)
After scaring myself silly on the library’s open paternoster podium (at the instigation of LM), I followed a student in highland dress to the graduation ball. The latter was a grave disappointment. In a tiny meeting room at the back … Continue reading

Party date mix-up and chocolate Settlers of Catan (Rousse)
TPR caused chaos when he declared that we would host our Christmas party on Friday rather than Saturday due to the weather forecast. The last minute change meant that some people now couldn’t make the celebration, and there was a … Continue reading
Topless on the A1 (Rousse)
My cousins S and N pleaded with me to dance with them so I agreed – but first I needed to put on some clothes. I returned to the camper van (my home for the past few months) and pulled … Continue reading

‘Between the servers’ dancing to the Smiths at Spotify HQ in Sweden (Rousse)
I discovered the twenty-first century equivalent of Saturday loitering in HMV. This was to spend the afternoon between the enormous file servers at Spotify’s headquarters in Sweden, dancing to the entire repertoire of the Smiths.
