Just an ordinary day walking the dog and calling in at the pub (Belle)

I was walking Norman Wisdom’s dogs. The local pub ran lunch-time sessions where you could sit maths tests at school desks and eat cheese.

Rousse’s Princes Street rescue

TPR stayed at the venue to perform his Fringe act, but I was too tired and very chilly. All I was wearing was my black wrap dress and absolutely nothing else – not even underwear. I needed cash for a taxi but it was real struggle to find a machine on Princes Street without a queue. Then I faced the problem of not being able to find my cards, inserting the wrong card, dropping my purse on the ground etc. I was eventually rescued by a very good-looking Hewlett Packard hardware engineer from Chicago who barred others from taking my place.

At the craft fair they were selling flat little chocolate bars in Facebook-branded wrappers.

Alien invasion – includes Wayne Rooney (Rousse)

The aliens were here but I was the only one who could spot them. It was a dead-giveaway. They were all 6’4″ and over, and made silly mistakes with their English: “I’ll meet you at 8 quarter past o’clock” and similar.

Wayne Rooney was the only player on a very uneven football pitch.

Unexpected meeting leads to football match in Prague (Belle)

I was in an airport arrivals hall and couldn’t work out the ticketing system that enabled passengers to leave the building. I bumped into an ex, and it was the second time we had met in an arrivals hall. He asked if I would go to Prague with them to do Christmas shopping. Despite not knowing who ‘them’ might be, I said I would if Sparta Prague were playing at home.

Remembrance and Shetland revision classes (Rousse)

I turned left on to Nicholson Street and came face to face with the mourning masses marching in remembrance of those who had perished in the disaster.

=======

I was furious that, once again, I was expected to work when on leave – this time to run revision sessions for students who didn’t think it would make any difference that they wanted the classes to take place in Shetland.

The sea air is not so healthy (Belle)

I lived by the seaside. There was a contagious zombie disease that turned victims into orange wig-wearing clowns. I was not affected.

New York is a dangerous place for Rousse

The New York sky-scrapers stretched high into the blue. I admired them while our host, MB (JG’s husband), started to load our bags into his car. As a result I missed the moment when a mugger grabbed one of the cases and charged up the hill. MB took chase. The last we saw of him before he disappeared forever was a huddle of fists and feet grappling on the ground. We considered taking a taxi to MB’s address, but the women on the airport information desk explained that it was $25 for the car, then $18 per passenger. This was a sum that we could not afford. Instead we joined a choir of British tourists and, at the tops of our voices, sang our way through Robbie Williams’ entire repertoire.

Belle is not the best of witnesses

I was waiting to give my evidence at a court trial when as events unfurled I realised I couldn’t remember a single thing and I was going to have to either lie, or run.

All the roses were vivid 1950s colours.

Rousse solves practical problems at work

It was so difficult to find somewhere for a private conversation that EMc and I met under a chair in the middle of another meeting. I asked him to remove his glasses so that I could see him more clearly.

=======

TPR pressed redial expecting to connect to his lover. Instead his voicemail came through to my work number.
