Metal fence decapitation (Rousse)

The yellow tandem flew through the air, threw off its passengers, and landed at the other side of the metal fence. TPR’s body fell to one side – and his head to the other, cleanly decapitated by the fence-wire.

Flood, theft, and burglary (Rousse)

It rained so heavily that the entire garden turned into a massive, muddy, swamp. Our tandem was stolen in front of our very eyes. When I stepped out of bed onto the rough surface of an inferior replacement for our … Continue reading

Luxury highland hotel coincidence (Rousse)

We had cycled for miles, mainly powered by TPR at the front of our tandem. Eventually we reached the tatty high street of a once-prosperous highland town. It would have attracted tourists in another age; now it looked very forlorn. … Continue reading

My in-laws were terrible social climbers. They forced me and my husband to enter a cycling race that – if we won – would reward us with a job placement with some posh person. (Of course, it was highly unlikely … Continue reading

Fort William loch lift (Rousse)

We were expected to follow cousin LA’s Audi down the M6 on a long tour of England. When she went off-piste into the Scottish mountains we struggled to keep up with her. I suggested that we ditch the car for … Continue reading
